PDR Voice-Over Coaching offers a wide range of services, from teaching clients privately to conducting group workshops, producing high-end demo reels and offering introductory classes and marketing seminars.
At PDR Voice-Over Coaching we believe, from our own personal experiences, that voice-over artists benefit greatly from studying with a coach who has a good ear, a wealth of knowledge, and plenty of industry experience. That’s why our clients will tell you that our hands on approach and work experience make us one of New York’s most sought after voice-over coaching and demo reel production facilities.
We coach a small roster of clients privately Monday – Thursday between the hours of 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM and most clients schedule weekly one-hour sessions. Coaching sessions focus mainly on technique and copy interpretation with a strong emphasis placed on commercial, straight announcer, testimonial and comedic reads. Special attention is also given to non-announcer (conversational) reads, which have become so fundamental in today’s industry.
Additionally, Associate Coaches may work with clients in the evenings and on weekends or even remotely to accommodate everyone’s schedule.
Done by Skype, Facetime, or even over the phone, voice-over talent outside of the New York Metropolitan area can have access to the world-class coaching services of PDR Voice-Over Coaching. Sessions can be delivered to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

Demo Reel Production
Once clients are ready to record and produce a demo reel, our team becomes an integral part of that recording and production process. All reels are produced in-house under the direction of our staff & our award-winning production & sound engineer, Matt DeSando.
PDR produces reels that agents and casting directors want to hear, so copy is carefully chosen and tailored to exhibit each actor’s style, versatility, and sense of humor. Many PDR clients have signed with top commercial agents and have landed work in commercials, promos, cartoons, and industrials because of the quality reels we produce.
It is strongly advised that all PDR clients produce demo reels when they have reached a competitive level and not before. We can work with you to produce demo reels that can showcase any of the following voice-over genres:
- Animation & Character
- Live Announce
- Radio Imaging
Animation & Character Reels
With the increased popularity of animated motion pictures, television shows, video games and interactive technologies, we find that character voices, dialects and impressions are in high demand. Having an animation or character reel becomes a valuable asset for a voice-over talent to showcase his/her range.
We are experts in not only determining which are your best and most marketable characters, but how to showcase them in a story line that keeps the listener engaged and entertained from start to finish.
During this highly creative and fun process, dialogue is written from scratch with you and your zany characters, accents and dialects in mind. This makes our animation reels one hundred percent original, hysterical and like nothing else out there.
PDR Voice-Over Coaching offers a comprehensive group class in The Art of Voice-Over Acting. All classes meet in our in-house recording studio for two hours, once a week, for 4 consecutive weeks.
To ensure the quality of every PDR class, the enrollment process begins with a mandatory, one-time 25-minute assessment session that will help us evaluate your potential in this highly competitive industry.
Assessments can be done in either the studio or over the phone. During this session, you’ll discuss your short and long term goals and we will have you read cold copy to determine if these classes are well suited for you. You will receive honest feedback, whether you enroll in classes or not.
The Art of Voice-Over Acting (4-Weeks)
Learn what it takes to begin and maintain a career in voice-overs. We’ll cover microphone technique, terminology and script breakdown, giving you the ability to prepare for auditions on a professional level. You’ll explore how to use your voice as an instrument to explore the rhythms and pacing of commercial copy, resulting in a real, intuitive “read.” We will work with you during Weeks 1-3 to help you develop and hone your voice-over skills from the ground up. In Week 4, you’ll showcase your progress for a special industry guest and discuss your future as a voice-over artist.
PDR Voice-Over Coaching Industry Workshops are designed to have agents, casting directors and producers educate our students in an encouraging open forum. They provide students an opportunity to hone their voice-over skills and discuss the business of voice-overs. Please click here to view dates & times of upcoming industry workshops.
PDR Voice-Over Coaching workshops are invitation only and for educational purposes and will not secure or provide opportunity for employment in the field or representation by an agent.
If you are not a client of PDR and are looking to simply join one of these industry workshops to be educated by agents, managers, casting directors and producers, we must ensure that you are competitive and at a professional level to be invited. Therefore, a simple workshop assessment is required beforehand.
